This program will discuss the impact that Covid-19 has had on nursing homes, including the dangers to residents not only from the Virus but also from other consequences of the pandemic. We will also cover the readiness of nursing homes prior to Covid-19; the nursing home industry’s response to Covid-19; and what to expect going forward.

Other topics discussed will include: visitation of elderly residents in nursing homes; Covid-19 deaths and non-deaths; nursing home evacuations; and other consequences of Covid-19, including dehydration, malnutrition, and bed sores.



Jim Morgan is a founding partner of Lanzone Morgan, LLP. His practice is dedicated to representing injured people and their families who have suffered injuries or death due to elder abuse and neglect, especially at the hands of nursing homes or assisted living facilities. Prior to forming Lanzone Morgan, LLP, Mr. Morgan served as the managing attorney of two elder abuse law firms in California. Over the course of his career, Mr. Morgan’s efforts have helped lead to more than $100 million in verdicts and settlements on behalf of abused and neglected elderly adults, including a verdict in excess of $5.5 million for the surviving daughter of an elderly adult who passed away after being given the wrong medication while in a nursing home. Prior to entering private practice, Mr. Morgan worked as a research attorney for the Honorable Warren K. Urbom, Senior District Judge, United States District Court for the Federal District of Nebraska. He also served as a law clerk for the Honorable Harold S. Herd, retired Kansas Supreme Court Justice. Mr. Morgan received his undergraduate degree, cum laude, in 1991 from Jacksonville State University in Jacksonville, Alabama. He received his Juris Doctor degree, magna cum laude, in 1997 from Washburn University School of Law in Topeka, Kansas. Mr. Morgan is from a military family and is the youngest of 11 children. She obtained a concentration in Elder Law focusing her course work on Estate Planning; Community Property; Estate & Gift Tax and Federal Income Taxation.
